KUALA LUMPUR, 27TH March 2022 – Today is a perfect day for a new saying. “Behind every successful child, there is always a great mother!”
Single mother of two successful daughters, Valsala Krishnan, launched her book titled ‘Raising Successful Children’ this evening at the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (KLPac). The author penned down her journey of raising her daughters who, today, are ivy league university students in the United States of America; Heerraa Ravindran, her first-born is with Harvard University and Harsha Ravindran, her youngest is at the University of Pennsylvania.
Heerraa and Harsha co-founded Ascendance (the International Youth Movement) when they were 16 and 13 with their co-founders, Mathura Kannan and Sanadtkumar Ganesan who were 19 and 15 respectively at the time. Starting as an after-school project, Ascendance has grown to impact over 35,000 generation Z across 28 countries, including Malaysia. They even won the Diana Award in 2019 for their social action and humanitarian work. Valsala has been with them throughout this journey while still charting success in her career.

“My biggest blessing was meeting ET Ideas and my mentor 9 years ago. They guided me towards achieving success in my career, showing me how to maintain the balance of spending time with my children and how to be truthful with my kids every step of the way. It was not easy; from sharing about my financial situation with my daughters when I had just started my business, to sharing the thoughts that go on in my mind during downtimes. Looking at how my daughters turned out today, I knew the process was all necessary and it was my duty to give back and share what I learned and applied with my kids to every parent out there,” said Valsala Krishnan, Founder of Globetrotter Consultancy who is also currently pursuing her PhD in Business at the University of Malaya-Wales.
The book launch was a private event attended by close friends and family who celebrated the trio’s achievements as they went down memory lane sharing their journey as a family. ‘Raising Successful Children’ book was published under ET Ideas, a social business incubator, that contributed to Valsala’s growth throughout the years.
