MUMBAI & KUALA LUMPUR, 7TH MAY 2022 – Akshat Singh who has been making headlines since he was 8, shared his journey of hitting stardom at the Backstage Spotlight virtual event today. The 17-year-old dancer from India inspired hundreds of Malaysian students through his stories of winning the Golden Buzzer at Britain’s Got Talent in 2019 to even dancing with film stars and dance masters like Shah Rukh Khan and Prabu Deva.
“You should not forget the people who have kept you and pushed you up; our school, our country, our parents and our teachers. These are the four people who are going to help you throughout your life. They won’t ask you for anything but they deserve one thing – respect,” said Akshat Singh when asked about the support system behind his success at a very young age.
Hosts of Backstage Spotlight who are also part of the global youth movement, Ascendance, were amazed as they watched Akshat’s behind-the-scenes performance of ‘Bombay Dreams’ music video that garnered over 30,000 views.

“That was such a good performance and the comments are going crazy!” said 21-year-old Sanadtkumar Ganesan, host of Backstage Spotlight as well as the Chief Operations Officer of Ascendance. Hosting together with him was 12-year-old Mathialagan Mathiyazhagan who is also an Ascendance Ambassador.
Backstage Spotlight Season 2 has to date featured influential and uplifting speakers such as Co-Presidents of the Wharton Undergraduate Finance Club from the United States of America as well as radio announcers from Hitz, Ili Ruzanna and Keanu Azman. This Ministry of Education-approved program will return next month for its fourth episode on the 4th of June 2022.
The 2019 Diana award recipient, Ascendance, will once again be featuring Akshat Singh as a keynote speaker at the Global Young Changemakers Conference and Competition (GYCCC).
