2ND AUGUST, LOS ANGELES, THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA – Malaysian-born artist, Heerraa, won the ICon Award as she made the strongest overall impression on the Hollywood music executive judges at the InterContinental Music Awards Competition 2022 (ICMA) on Sunday morning.
It was a double win for Heerraa as her song ‘Feel Alive’ won the Best of North America under the Pop category, only to be topped at the end of the awards ceremony by being crowned as the ICon Award winner. She won a USD 1,000 cash prize, the ICMA Award Certificate signed and endorsed by InterContinental Music Awards Organization along with private coaching with members of the judging panel. Winning the ICMA ICon Award ranks Heerraa as an international artist recognized by Hollywood judges.
“I am incredibly honoured and speechless because I never thought this would happen but I am so grateful for the opportunity. This is all possible because of my fans and my amazing team who have been supporting my mission of changing the world with music since day one. Thank you so much for believing in me and the power of my songs to impact people’s lives positively. I cannot wait to produce more life-changing music with you,” said the 23-year-old Heerraa during the ICon Award acceptance speech. Heerraa is also currently pursuing her Bachelor of Liberal Arts at Harvard University.

Celebrating its 10th Anniversary, ICMA announced their winners through their online award ceremony at 12 pm PDT, evaluating music entries from a global perspective. Judges include music gurus who have produced songs for singers like Selena Gomez, Westlife, Celine Dion and more.
Heerraa attributes her success to her mentors at ET Ideas, a Malaysian social business incubator which helped turn her dream of being an international singer-songwriter into a reality when she was 14 years old. Her songs started hitting international radios and digital platforms after she won the Gold Award for Best Female Single of the Year (International) at the International Singer-Songwriters Association (ISSA) Awards in Atlanta, Georgia last summer.
An advisor and co-founder of the international youth movement, Ascendance, Heerraa writes songs to inspire and change the world through her music. In 2022 alone, Heerraa released 6 new songs which are now available on all streaming platforms.
